Renowned chef Ben Higgs, leads a passionate team to provide a unique culinary experience. Ben is passionate about the quality of fresh local produce. Specialising in modern Australian cuisine with strong classical French accents, Ben strives to use localised seasonal produce and sustainable food primarily from the rich soils of the neighbouring Yarra Valley and the Ranges. Expect foods that are flavour driven and excite the palate, complemented by many hard to find wines and vintages from local boutique vineyards. Ben also shares his knowledge in the cooking school. The Piggery Café, managed by English lass Emma Lloyd and Frenchman Max Peyrard (former Bistro Vue bar manager), has been designed in a warm and rustic manner with touches of modernity. Outside a slew of tables lie under heating strobes looking out to lawn bowls, croquet and bocce pitches. Look even further across the 23-hectare estate and into the distance and you’ll spot the 500-tree trufferie, extensive vegetable gardens (now providing organic produce for Vue De Monde and assorted Vue Group restaurants) and an emu enclosure with the grand ambition of sourcing the eggs to use in the Piggery Café dishes.

The inclusion of a new kitchen garden at Cloudehill has been a great inspiration for us as we continue to create dishes reflective of fantastic seasonal and local produce. If you can't join us for lunch, come and enjoy our High Tea experience in the picturesque town of Sassafras, with its English style conservatory windows overlooking the gardens. Fortnums is perfect for a relaxing afternoon indulgence. You will be treated to a selection of savoury delights and sandwiches, followed by our famous scones, served with our own jam, and petite pastries with your choice of leaf tea or espresso coffee. High Tea is $49.50 per person and bookings are essential.

A little piece of Paris in Sassafras. Both the design and fare at Cafe De Beaumarchais is inspired by and dedicated to the relaxed and sophisticated Parisian café dining culture. The café’s delicious range of locally made cakes are displayed in a European style cake display that had to be specially constructed. The seating is primarily supplied by a row of tables along a comfortable banquette with a couch for those who really want to lie back and relax. Many of those that visit café de Beaumarchais tell us they love the relaxed feel and sense of being somewhere else.
